Childcare/Educator Programs The Signing Smart™ Tots' infant & toddler sign language Workshop is also relevant for childcare providers, teachers, and professionals working with hearing infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. More than just motivating teachers to sign, this workshop helps professionals develop a plan for successfully incorporating signs and research-proven Signing Smart™ strategies and techniques into their classrooms. By using Signing Smart™ strategies, teachers will enhance spoken language skills, facilitate cognitive and emotional development, and take advantage of this powerful classroom management tool. As a result, teachers will notice a decrease in children's frustration, aggression, and tantrums, and an increase in constructive interactions and positive affect.
You will learn the Signing Smart™ Start, including how many and which signs to use as you introduce Signing Smart™ to the babies, preschoolers or toddlers in your class. You will further learn how to help children access your signs in the hectic environment of a classroom, how to implement our simple and successful strategies that make signing a breeze, as well as how to recognize what signs look like on children's hands. All American Sign Language signs are taught and used in Signing Smart™ Tots Workshops to help provide consistency for parents, babies and their childcare providers. Signing Smart™ Tots' baby sign language workshops are based on the Signing Smart™ curriculum developed by Michelle Anthony, M.A., Ph.D., and Reyna Lindert, Ph.D., two young mothers and child-development experts who studied language development and literacy and are certified in American Sign Language. With over 450 parents and babies through Signing Smart™ Tots Workshops and Play Classes as well as countless other parents signing with their babies in the Windsor area there is a great demand for childcare providers who are signing with the children in their care.
